Dr. Stephen Phelan is very pleased to announce that our practice has just acquired an amazing new Dental Laser, the Waterlase MD. With this exciting new technology, many dental procedures can be performed with no pain, virtually eliminating the need for anesthesia. The laser is very precise, so we can leave behind as much healthy tooth structure as possible. It can also perform numerous soft tissue (gum) procedures with little or no bleeding. We are extremely proud to be able to offer this new technology for all of our patients. Feel free to ask us about it at your next appointment or call 905-827-1619 for more information.
The Waterlase MD is loaded with patented technology and powerful features that will transform your dental experience. The Waterlase MD is a revolutionary dental laser that uses HydroPhotonics, a combination of laser energy and water, to perform many traditional dental procedures in many instances, without the need for injections. The precision and accuracy of the Waterlase MD allows Dr. Stephen Phelan to treat targeted areas of tooth structure and soft tissue, leaving surrounding areas intact while maintaining the structural integrity of the tooth. Studies have shown that the Waterlase MD is less invasive and less traumatic than the drill, scalpel or electrosurge. Less invasive means more conservation of tooth structure and tissue.
The Waterlase is used in all aspects of dentistry: preventive and periodontal care, restorative care and cosmetic enhancements. Requiring fewer shots, less anesthetic and replacing the dental drill in many cases, the Waterlase MD greatly improves your comfort, reduces your anxiety and enhances your overall dental experience.
If the thought of anesthesia, needles and the sound, noise and feel of the dental drill fill you with anxiety, and prevent you from seeking dental care, ask us about Waterlase Laser dentistry. The Waterlase MD Dental Laser combines laser energy with a spray of water to comfortably and precisely perform cavity preparation for you or your children's teeth. The cavity preparation with the Waterlase MD Dental Laser without the needle or dental drill is particularly useful with children and can greatly improve their overall experience when going to the dentist. If you have any questions about your family's dental health, or to schedule an appointment, feel free to call our office at 905-827-1619.
Over 85% of the population has some form of periodontal (gum) disease. Gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss and has been linked to heart disease and stroke. With the introduction of lasers into periodontal care, the disease can be treated more effectively and comfortably than ever before. The laser removes scar tissue in periodontal pockets, kills bacteria causing the disease and promotes the reattachment of the gum to tooth.
While the laser treatment is very effective, good oral hygiene and professional care by one of our excellent dental hygienist's is also important to the prolonged health of your smile. You should brush at least two to three times a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and floss at least once a day. Fluoride or chlorohexidine rinses and an oral irrigator are also important adjuncts for the treatment of periodontal disease. These preventive measures in combination with your in-office treatment and Laser periodontal therapy should have your mouth restored to its optimal health in no time!
